The Fulbright College department of music will feature Dr. Richard Rulli in a “Trumpet and Friends” concert, Tuesday evening, Feb. 2 at 7:30 p.m. in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall. The program will feature “Windows after Marc Chagall” by Peter Eben with Charles Rigsby on organ; “Quintet for Trumpet and Strings” by Eric Ewazen with the Encore String Quartet; and “A Soldier’s Tale” by Igor Stravinsky with UA Music Faculty Chamber Ensemble, Robert Mueller, conducting, with Amy Herzberg, narrator, Robert Ford, the soldier, and Timothy Thompson, the devil.
Richard Rulli holds degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Ithaca College, New York, and the University of Northern Colorado. At the University of Arkansas, he teaches trumpet, brass chamber music, conducts the trumpet ensemble and performs as a founding member of the Boston Mountain Brassworks, the UA faculty brass quintet in residence. In addition, he serves as Principal Trumpet of the North Arkansas Symphony Orchestra. Dr. Rulli is a 2009 University of Arkansas Faculty Gold Medal recipient for his support of students as a faculty mentor in performance and advising.
The Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall is located in the Fine Arts Building on the UA campus. Free parking is available in the parking deck, which can be accessed from Stadium Drive and is located directly to the west of the Fine Arts Building.
