The Fulbright college department of music will feature University of Arkansas trombone professor Gerald Sloan in concert on Monday evening, October 19 at 7:30 p.m. in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall. Mr. Sloan will be performing works by Camille Saint-Saens, Carl Maria von Weber, Paul Hindemith, J. S. Bach, Arthur Pryor, James Greeson, and Charlies E. Ives.
Gerald Sloan is celebrating his 40th year at the University of Arkansas and his 50th year on trombone. He has performed with the Music Festival of Arkansas and has been on the faculty of the International Trombone Workshop twice, as well as published articles on trombone and jazz trombone in numerous leading periodicals, including The Instrumentalist. His book Orchestral Recordings for Low Brass Players was published in the fall of 1997.
The Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall is located in the Fine Arts Building on the UA campus. Free parking is available in the parking deck, which can be accessed from Stadium Drive and is located directly to the west of the Fine Arts Building.
