Dance Coalition (a local group of choreographers and dancers) will soon be holding auditions for dancers for the 2010 Northwest Arkansas Dance Festival. Auditions will be held Sunday, September 20th, 2009, 2:00 p.m. at the HPER Building rm. 220 on the University of Arkansas Campus.
Audition fee is $3.00. Dancers must be at least 13 years old to take part, all generally recognized styles of dance welcome. There is no upper age limit for auditions.
The format of the audition will consist of a basic ballet barre warm-up, followed by learning short sections of choreography in ballet, jazz, and modern styles. Based on this, Choreographers will select the dancers they feel best suit the needs of the program they plan to present in the spring.
Selected dancers will begin working with choreographers over the coming months based on the choreographers’ rehearsal schedule. These dancers will be a part of the Northwest Arkansas Dance Festival performances April 2-4, 2010.
Choreographers interested in adding a piece to the Northwest Arkansas Dance Festival are invited to attend the audition to select dancers to work with. Annual membership fee for choreographers is $25.00 (in-kind donations acceptable). Payment can be made on the day of the audition or sent to P.O. Box 10962, Fayetteville, AR 72703.
Dance Coalition will host the first annual Northwest Arkansas Dance Festival April 2-4, 2010 at the University of Arkansas and Benton County School of the Arts. The weekend-long event will feature classes with Master Teacher Desiree Robbins, two choreographic showcase performances and a Folk Dance showcase performance.
