Julie Wait Designs Gallery in association with Poor Richard’s Art features paintings by Barbara Kennedy September 10th-November 5th. An artist reception will be held Friday Sept 18th 6-8 p.m. during the Third Friday Twilight Walk in Roger’s Historic District.

Barbara Kennedy’s not trying to make big statements in her art. The work just happens to evoke the miraculous when she was only planning to introduce you to some of her friends (in the human and plant world). She’s like someone you drop in on now and then, who looks at you for a minute and then says, "Oh, excuse me a minute, I’m just gonna go off in the next room for a minute and push some paint around. There’s brownies on the table and a pie in the pantry. And by the way, did you notice how stupendously beautiful the world is? Back in a minute."
If Judy, Chicago, Georgia O’Keeffe, and all those psychedelic poster makers from the 60s woke up together one day in the person of Barbara Kennedy, this is what would come pouring through their fingers onto canvas. It already does.
