Poor Richard’s Art, 116 S. First St. in historic downtown Rogers, is proud to announce the artists of the month for August. Photographer, Kathy Mayhue and mosaic artist, Erin Neal will be showing off their works during the month, with a reception August 21st.

Erin made her first mosaic mirror as a birthday present for her sister and the rest, as they say, is history. She creates one-of-a kind mosaic mirrors, plaques and  tables. She also creates “usable art work” with mosaic trivets, lazy Suzan’s and birdhouse’s.   She enjoys personally working with her clients incorporating their ideas and personality into their piece of art.

Erin loves to explore colors, shapes, textures from different materials to integrate into a single work of art.   Each tile is individually glued to its surface and can be designed for indoor or outdoor use.  She uses the highest quality materials, glass tiles, ceramic tiles, stainless steel, stained glass, mirrors, etc.  Along with limitless tile options of shapes, sizes and color there are also several grout colors to choose from which are indoor and outdoor safe as well as stain resistant.

Kathy is a professional photographer as well as a wife, mom, and community volunteer in Northwest Arkansas.  Photography is her passion and she rarely goes a day without taking or wanting to take a photo of someone or something!  She started doing juried art shows in 2002, and made the move from strictly film to some digital in 2005. Kathy photographs nature and weddings.  She is self-taught photographer and has had the opportunity to do photography workshops with Tim Ernst – well known Arkansas Nature Photographer, Tom Murphy – well know Montana and Yellowstone Nature photographer, and David Beckstead a phenomenal wedding photographer from Arizona.  These were great learning experiences.

Kathy has been published in At Home in Arkansas – Wedding addition, Family Fun Magazine, Rogers – Lowell Chamber Publications, and Welcome to Springdale.  Her photos from the Hobbs State Park make up part of the Friends of Hobbs web site and are being used on the Arkansas State Park web site.  She is a member of Artists of Northwest Arkansas, Sager Creek Art Center, Eureka Springs Artists, Nature Photographer, and Photographic Society of Northwest Arkansas.

Please join Poor Richard’s in celebrating the wonderful work of these artists, in conjunction with the Third Friday Twilight Walk in historic downtown Rogers, August 21st from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

Poor Richard’s Art is a cooperative art gallery dedicated to nurture and present innovative art of uncommon quality in all types of media by regional artists, while preserving the Old Applegate Drug Store building. Hours are 10:00 to 6:00  Monday through Saturday.
