Playwright and screenwriter Kevin Cohea and historian Krista Jones will discuss Mr. Cohea’s new play, “Sundown Town”.

“Sundown Town” is a riveting drama set in the fictitious Northwest Arkansas town of Healing Springs in the early 20th century. A new hand at a local farm, an African American from Louisiana, runs afoul of the town’s “sundown laws,” which forbid blacks from entering town after dark. The original play includes traditional white gospel music.

Award-winning playwright and novelist Robert Ford will be joined by Arkansas historian Dr. Jeannie Whayne to discuss Mr. Ford’s new play, “Look Away, Look Away”.

Set in Mississippi County in the 1930s, award-winning playwright Robert Ford’s ”Look Away, Look Away” is based on the true story of two young African American men who, fleeing a lynch mob, throw themselves on the mercy of the powerful Wilson family.

Northwest Arkansas loves new plays, and TheatreSquared is committed to continuing the tradition. So is the Department of Arkansas Heritage, which recently awarded T2 a generous grant to fund a new play festival highlighting our state’s rich culture and history. The festival will present staged readings of six new plays about Arkansas, FIVE by professional playwrights and FOUR by high school students. We are pleased to be partnering with the Walton Arts Center to present this laugh-out-loud comedy as part of the Center’s “Night Out” series, It stars Justin Scheuer as Sam, an unemployed actor who works as reservations manager in one of New York City’s top restaurants. Have you ever watched a sketch comedy show like “Saturday Night Live” or an improv show like “Whose Line is it,  Anyway” and thought “maybe I could do that”? Have you ever thought that having a more confidence or being a
public speaker could help you in your career? Take a class and find
comedy improviation games, focusing on exercises in team-building, trust,
and conquering fears. Nothing unleashes the power of creativity like improv! This class is great for aspiring actors, comedians and for people who want to bring the comlete power of their own creativity to bear in their professional field. This course may culminate in a showcase performance for family and friends.

The class will meet at Fayetteville’s Adult and Community Education Center (formerly Jefferson Elementary) at 612 S. College.
