A Community Birthday Party-Come Celebrate With Us!

Fayetteville, AR  September 2, 2008 - YouthCAN! and the Community Imagination Studio want the community to celebrate our birthday with us!  It was one year ago that we moved to Fayetteville and the time has flown by!  To celebrate, we are having a community party!  Saturday, September 6 is free Family Day from 1-4 pm and will be a special “Happy Birthday to us” Theme! Bring your whole family to help us celebrate our first year in Fayetteville. Family Day festivities will include volunteer recognition and appreciation, making party hats, decorating a fake cake, a cake walk, and a cake decorating contest. The cake decorating contest is open to anyone wishing to participate. The theme for the decorating contest is ‘community’ and all entries need to be submitted by 12:30 on Sept. 6th. There will be awards for best use of theme, most creative, and most delicious looking.  Decorate your cake, get it to us, and then watch as your cake becomes a coveted prize in our cake walk!
We will also be joined on Saturday by two other organizations helping us celebrate.  Let’s Bring Them Home will be in attendance with McGruff the Crime Dog.  They will be doing photos and fingerprinting as part of their Safe Kids Total Identification system which is funded in part through the Wal-mart Foundation.  In addition, the Northwest Arkansas Tobacco Free Coalition will have an educational “Candy Shop” booth for kids and parents alike.

YouthCAN! will also be recognizing the many volunteers who have assisted us in the past year.  We will also be unveiling a new and exciting initiative that will allow the community to become active participants in supporting the arts.  And, there will be one HUGE announcement!

The day promises to be lots of fun-For more information about the cake decorating contest, contact Alison Cater at Alison@communityimaginationstudio.org or check out the website at www.communityimaginationstudio.org.  For other questions, contact Barbara Price Davis at (479) 442-8586.
