remy fine art is very honored to be featuring a solo exhibition of recent works by Kevin Arnold. The exhibit, “Eventide” will open with a reception for the artist on April 3rd, from 6:00pm-8:00pm. The exhibit will be on view from April 3rd-April 30th, gallery hours are Tuesday-Saturday from noon-5pm.
Arnold, a BFA from the University of Arkansas, is widely regarded as one of the finest emerging artists from our region. The University of Arkansas at Fort Smith recently acquired one of Arnold’s paintings for their permanent collection exhibited in the newly dedicated Mary Tinnin Jaye Gallery. The painting, “In the Meantime” hangs alongside the work of Arthur Dove and John Marin.
Think of Kevin Arnold as our own Edward Hopper. He captures the rural heart, painting life with the parts Norman Rockwell left out: brooding loneliness, momentary thought and the silence that is left in the day after all the hard work is done. These are narrative paintings that do what the best art does: imply meaning that is greater than the explicit message of the work itself. This mystery is what will hold the viewer and cause one to return again and again to Arnold’s paintings in an attempt to gain understanding.
