Welcome to Art Amiss, a Fayetteville-based artists’ collective with the expressed purpose of giving opportunity to emerging artists living in, working in, or from Arkansas. Art Amiss is funded purely by donations, submission and admission fees for its events, and purchases of custom posters, compilation CDs, literary chapbooks, t-shirts and more. Art Amiss holds semi-annual events celebrating the diverse, creative and productive artists in Arkansas.
Art Amiss 8 will be held at the Dickson Theater, in Fayetteville, Arkansas on the evening of May 8th.
Art Amiss strives to present an environment in which emerging and unrepresented Arkansas artists may exhibit and sell their work. Art Amiss encourages large scale media and installation submissions, as well as film, fashion, literary and music submissions. Art Amiss does not discriminate based on race, class, gender, age, education, medium, or size. All works submitted within the guidelines will be considered solely on the basis of their merit within the context of the Art Amiss event.
Artists are responsible for the deliver to and pick-up from the event. All works of art, in whole or part, are the sole responsibility of the artists. Art Amiss will not be liable for any damage, loss, or theft of the work resulting from these circumstances.
Entry Guidelines
Artists Must be originally from or current residents of Arkansas. Artists may not have current gallery representation, or show currently touring work.
Artists may submit up to 10 digital images of current work to the review committee for consideration. If accepted, the works shown in Art Amiss 8 must be the exact works that were submitted for review. Reproductions or replacements will not be accepted for exhibition.
Artists may not show in more than two (2) consecutive Art Amiss events.
Artists may not submit for exhibition pieces that have been previously shown at an Art Amiss function or event. Work must be show-quality format, prepared for hanging/installation. Art Amiss does not provide frames, hanging wire, etc.
All work must be submitted in a digital format, as detailed below:
SUBMISSION MUST INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
1-10 JPEG or TIF files:
Resolution must be no lower than 72 dpi, no greater than 300 dpi.
No dimension smaller than 400 pixels.
Submitted images must be in color, unless the work itself is black and white.
Include an inventory of the works submitted, detailing
• Title
• Dimensions (Height x Width x Depth)
• Medium
• Date completed
Please specify if you have included multiple views of the same work, or if files submitted constitute a series that cannot be divided.
For film, video, and computer pieces: please send a nonreturnable copy of your work to the below-listed address, in addition to the other submission materials.
For site-specific or installation work: please include a letter of proposal and schematic drawings in addition to other submission materials.
Include a brief biological sketch and/or artist statement. Include mailing address and phone number.
Application fee for Art Amiss 8 is $10, payable to ART AMISS via PayPal account on the Art Amiss website (artamiss.org) OR by check, mailed to 615 N Walnut Ave, Fayetteville, AR 72701. Artists submitting work without paying the application fee will not be considered.

Art Amiss 8 will be juried by the Art Amiss Board, a diverse group of exhibitors volunteering their time and experience to ensure that Art Amiss continues to work toward its goals as a community-based artists’ collective. Works will be accepted based on a majority vote. All submissions will be judged based solely on the content and craftsmanship of the work.
Artists will be notified by email of acceptance no later than April 8, 2008
No commission will be taken for sales at Art Amiss 8. Artists who wish to sell their work must be present at the exhibition; Art Amiss claims no responsibility for or involvement in transactions between artist and buyer.
ALL ART IS THE SOLE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE ARTIST
Artwork must be picked up BY THE ARTIST following the show, unless other arrangements have been made, all art work remaining unclaimed 24 hours after the closing of the exhibition will be handled at the discretion of the Art Amiss organizers.
