Arts Live Theatre, Northwest Arkansas’ only dedicated Children’s and Youth Theatre Company, announces its class schedule for the fall, 2007 semester. Classes will begin the week of September 10th through the week of November 12th. Arts Live Theatre classes and productions are designed to provide theatrical training for children and youth from grades K-12, while also promoting self-confidence, creative skills and developing friendships. Their recent production of Disney’s High School Musical performed to capacity audiences. A staff of theatre professionals, including Mark Landon Smith, Jules Taylor, Missy Gipson, Mario Moreno and Kate Frank, all of whom have worked in all facets of the theatre nationally and internationally serve as instructors for classes and workshops.
The fall semester will culminate in an Arts Live Theatre Festival, Friday, November 16th and Saturday, November 17th, in which students will perform in a series of sketches, one act plays and improvisations.
All classes are held at the Arts Live Theatre space at 1378 North College in the Evelyn Hills Shopping Center in Fayetteville. Class enrollment is limited with space secured with payment. PLAYMAKERS 1 “Storybook Theatre” (Grades K-1)
Your most beloved children’s stories come to life in this class as students are encouraged to explore their own thoughts, ideas and dreams through creative movement, music, theatre games and story telling. Students will also learn the foundational building blocks of the theatre.

PLAYMAKERS 1 “Once Upon A Time” (Grades K-1)
This class is similar in design as “Storybook Theatre” as students explore their own “once upon a time” through creative movement, music, theatre games and story telling.
Thursdays, 3-3:45 p.m. $100 Enrollment limit – 8
PLAYMAKERS “Imagiscapes” (Grades 2-4)
In this class you can be anything you imagine yourself to be, so let your imagination soar! Through a series of theatre games, exercises, improvisations and script work, these young actors will continue a deeper exploration of themes and characters focusing on early theatre concepts utilizing the body, voice and the imagination.

PLAYMAKERS 2 “Imagination Playground” (Grades 2-4)
This class is similar in design as “Imagiscapes” as students explore their own imaginative possibilities through theatre games, exercises, improvisations and script work.

INTRODUCTION TO ACTING “The Actor Prepares” (Grades 5-6)
Are you dying to take the stage but have only had little or no experience? Then this is the class for you! A great class to learn theatre basics including terms and acting techniques designed to bring out the actor in all of us!

COMEDY IMPROV “Laugh Factory” (Grades 5-8)
Make ‘em laugh! Students will learn basic improv skills used by the pros of television and onstage. Learn to think on your feet, make strong choices and to be funny without even trying!
Mondays, 6-7 p.m. $110 Enrollment limit – 15
ACTING 1 “Broadway Bound” (Grades 7-8)
Begin exploring character development and transferring that to the stage. Learn additional techniques and their application to character and the discipline of the rehearsal process and a deeper understanding of performance.

THEATRE LAB CLASSES (Grades 8-12)
CONTEMPORARY ACTING “Respect For Acting” (Grades 8-12)
Students will learn to apply complete truth to their characters, listening to their acting partner and being “in the moment” through scene and monologue work.

TELEVISION PRODUCTION WORKSHOP “Lights, Camera, Action” (Grades 8-12)
Arts Live Theatre Theatre Lab students continue production on the original television series “Fayetteville 72701.” With two episodes produced, the class will continue to produce additional episodes throughout the fall and spring semester with regional broadcasts. Students participate in all facets of production including acting, writing, technical aspects and directing.
Saturdays, 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m. $150 Enrollment limit – 18
In addition to the above classes, Arts Live Theatre will also be offering classes with their satellite programs at The New School, Westwood Elementary and the Benton County School of the Arts. Classes will be also be available in the early afternoons for students who are home schooled. Special one day workshops in professional development, playwrighting, movement and Alexander Technique will also be offered throughout the semester. Arts Live Theatre will be holding auditions for their fall production The Pirate Show on Saturday, September 1st from 2-5 p.m. at Arts Live Theatre. All ages are invited to audition and previous experience is not necessary. Those auditioning are asked to prepare a short song and be prepared to read from the script. Performances will be November 9, 10 & 11 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Parish Hall.
