A bit of Broadway came to Fayetteville Saturday evening as Arts Live Theatre, Northwest Arkansas’ only dedicated non-profit Children’s and Youth Theatre Company, held its first annual Outstanding Contribution Awards at the Parish Hall at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
The “ALTYs”, as the awards are called, are given to recognize the outstanding contributions of Arts Live Theatre actors and students. Awards are given for performance on stage, and for performance in classes. Mark Landon Smith, Arts Live Theatre Artistic Director said, “The event isn’t just about awards, it’s about recognizing the accomplishments of the organization as a whole throughout the season. It’s a celebration of everyone’s involvement and contributions.”
The event was hosted by Arts Live Theatre faculty and staff including Smith, Jules Taylor, Missy Gipson and Mario Moreno. Presenters were area adult actors who have been involved with Arts Live and who made their presentations as characters from the productions of the past season. The 100 persons in attendance were treated to a light buffet with Karaoke, courtesy of Dancenhance Entertainment, immediately following the ceremony. Award recipients received a framed certificate and a trophy.
