OurStateArkansas

Please join us for OurStateArkansas, May 20 – 22, 2007 at the Coury House Retreat Center, Subiaco, Arkansas.

OurState is Just Communities intensive three-day diversity initiative that brings together community leaders from across Arkansas who work in the sectors of business, non-profit, government, faith, healthcare, media and education to interactively explore how they can help make our state’s practices and culture more inclusive.

Arkansas’ growing diversity is one of our greatest challenges, and one of our greatest opportunities.  OurState graduates will be able to create inclusive companies, organizations, and communities that get the best from everyone.  An environment where all people feel included and valued yields greater commitment and motivation, and inclusive organizations are better positioned to serve new and emerging markets.

The OurState experience is designed to help participants develop the skills necessary to address current and future issues within the context of our state’s changing demographics. OurState participants leave the training with a personal plan of action and a collective plan of action to empower them to create just communities for all Arkansans.

To be eligible to attend OurState, a participant must complete an application which must be received by the close of business on Friday, May 11, 2007. The workshop begins at 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 20 and goes until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 22.  Applying to attend does not guarantee a place in the workshop. Candidates will be selected to ensure a diverse class regarding race, gender, profession, and geographic location.

Through the generous sponsorship of Tyson Foods, Inc. and Alltel, the cost per participant is only $500, which provides workshop and materials, t-shirt, lodging and meals.    Please visit  www.ourstatearkansas.org  to apply today!
