Re: StoryCorps Visit to Northwest Arkansas in March 2007
Hello! I am writing to you from KUAF 91.3FM public radio and I am writing to tell you
about StoryCorps, an exciting oral history project that will be in Northwest Arkansas
during the entire month of March. StoryCorps is a national oral history project dedicated
to preserving the stories of everyday Americans in sound. Story Corps hopes to record
and archive the stories of the amazing people that live in this area.
Participants reserve an hour-long recording session at our StoryBooth to interview someone
they know. For example, two friends might come in to learn more about each other,
a mother may want to interview her teenage daughter, or someone who works in the
community might interview one of her beloved clients. After finishing the interview,
the participants get a broadcast quality recording of their conversation. With their permission,
another copy will be sent to the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress and
preserved as part of a national oral history archive there. You can learn more about the StoryCorps
project at their website. And you can hear past StoryCorps interviews here.
KUAF and StoryCorps are interested in having your organization participate in this historic oral history project. Terry Scott, a StoryCorps representative, will be in Fayetteville January 24th for a preliminary meeting about their March visit. On Wednesday January 24th, Terry will present an introduction into the StoryCorps mission and methodology and we would like you to please join us.
If you are interested in meeting Terry and I and learning more about how your organization can participate with the StoryCorps project, please respond to this email or call me directly at (479) 575-7259. We hope to have twenty to thirty organizations represented at a meeting on the morning of the 24th. I will have more information when I have a more accurate number of interested parties.
Thank you for your time and I hope to hear from you.
