Dear Artists and Arts Supporters,
Fayetteville Downtown Partners (FDP) continues its commitment to Fayetteville’s creative economy and we are working hard to ensure the success of the various projects identified through eight months of community meetings.
Each arts related project FDP undertakes is filtered through the following objectives:
- Increase opportunities for professional artists
- Strengthen the arts infrastructure
- Increase audiences for the arts
- Increase young people’s access to the arts
These projects are then placed under one of these overall goals:
- Establish a Fayetteville Arts Commission
- Produce an expanded Fayetteville Arts Festival (see the full schedule will be posted in two weeks on www.downtowndickson.com)
- Define boundaries of the Fayetteville Arts and Cultural District
- Write and implement a Public Art Policy/ Develop and define a Museum Without Walls concept
- Develop and support a sustainable Downtown Gallery Arts Walk
- Facilitate certification of AIE/Rostered Artists at the state level
Each item on this “To Do” list has multiple components and some, like the establishment of the Fayetteville Arts Council, may be some time off. Even though Fayetteville Downtown Partners may not be able to take the lead on each “To Do” item, our organization will continue to advocate for the implementation of this list.
Among many other projects, FDP and our partners are currently working on:
- Expanding Fayetteville Arts Festival programming
- Establishing a Fayetteville Poet Laureate
- Initiating several public art projects in the downtown area
- Facilitating public conversations on the boundaries and services provided by a Cultural Arts District/Downtown Improvement District
- Developing a draft Public Art Policy
- Supporting the implementation of a quarterly Downtown Gallery Arts Walk
We will be posting meeting dates for each project, and any subsequent arts and cultural related project, as they occur.
We look forward to working with each of you to strengthen our creative economy and establish Fayetteville as the top-of-the-mind cultural destination in the region.
Sincerely,
Daniel Hintz
